"Kim Jong - As Ill as I wanna be" or "North Korea 2: Electric Boogaloo"

I'm so Ronery / So ronery / So ronery and sadry arone / There's no one / Just me onry / Sitting on my rittle throne / I work rearry hard and make up get prans / but, nobody listens, no one understands / Seems rike no one takes me serirousry / And so I got some nukes / now everyone is listening / ronery no more!

So north Korea has a long history of making threats. In the past though, it's only been just enough to push countries into giving it aid, as there's no other way it'd survive in the long term.

Lately? Lately though, the threats haven't been so idle. Aside from blowing up a nuke or two to show they mean business, they've also withdrawn from the 1953 armistice, something they've never done before.

Perhaps they're in such a hard corner that they have no other choice but to start a fight. Who can say? But it looks like they might actually carry through with the implied threats and go to war against South Korea and Japan. Possibly with nukes.

In the past, China has been a strong ally of North Korea, so no one could push North Korea around too much. Whether China sticks by N. Korea as it seemingly goes off the deep end will be an interesting question. If it doesn't, N. Korea runs the risk of getting a preemptive nuking. If it does, odds are that conventional war isn't far off.

I'm waiting to see what happens next...

No they are not. All it takes is it 'getting out of hand' once for it to get 'out of hand' forever. Or the short amount of time that 'forever' will be.

It's so amusing how they've convinced their people that America wants to kill them all and take over and we're practically at the border, just waiting for a show of weakness.

In reality, 99% of Americans don't even know where Korea is and are pretty sure that they're really Chinese, not that it matters because all Orientals look the same. As one hick told me once, "Why'd you go all the way to Japan? You can get Chinese food here?"

Nope! But how else do you convince a populace that you've got good reasons for your militaristic stance?

Kim Jong - As Ill as I wanna be <-- funniest thing I've read all month!

I was in South Korea in 1995/1996. The threat was always very real, and the armistice wasn't all-inclusive. The fact that North Korea no longer feels bound by it doesn't bode well for us.

They're all insane.

Definitely not taking their plays out of the standard playbook...

I really, really hope that no country ever, ever makes a "preemptive nuclear strike," again. That's just fucked; South Koreans would obviously suffer, and they're cool. That's like someone nuking your neighbors, going, "Sorry about your house, man; your neighbors were nuts."

And its not like if NK nukes Japan we're just going to sit here. We're going to bomb the shit out of them. And then China, or Russia, will bomb the shit out of us. And then some crazy splinters will bomb the shit out of each other in the middle east.

On the other hand, it's like, global nuclear holocaust could mean I'd get out of work for a while, so fuck it. Bombs away.

I'm pretty worried about the world at the way North Korea is firing missile tests left and right.

They've been doing that for a while, but given the threats aren't so idle any more, perhaps the missile tests won't be so idle either...

Well, it's a bad time to live in Alaska--that's the only place they've been able to reach so far. They do lob test bombs at us and Japan all the time. So much for my love of King Crab.

It seems dubious that they'd lob anything at the US - that seems pretty suicidal, and they don't seem to be quite that yet. Who knows though?

I can't attest to the veracity of the article, but it seems that we've been bombed already with some kind of a test bomb?

I want to see some sources, cause this just looks like propaganda to me.

Oops, okay; yeah, no. It's total bullshit.

http://articles.latimes.com/2006/jul/07/world/fg-alaska7

LAT totally debunks the whole thing. We haven't been bombed, and the Sea of Japan, not Japan herself, has had some stuff pointed at it.
